Horse Industry Formally Calls for Delayed Implementation of 2025 Horse Protection Act
American Horse Council, President Julie Broadway issues formal request that the USDA delay its implementation of the Horse Protection Act of 2025. In a statement from AHC, “The USDA-APHIS has still not addressed big-picture, fundamental concerns on how the regulation applies to certain disciplines… clarity, accessibility, resources, guidance, and training—all the elements required for a successful implementation of the revised regulation—are lacking in the agency.“

We need this to be stopped, have been in the walking horse busy for over 50 years, and no other equine has been under this type of pressure but the walking horse and racking horse industry, they ( the USDA) is over reaching and making their own rules as they go.

This is not the way to handle this situation. It will put all horse events in jeopardy. There should be a more cost efficient method to making sure our horses are protected

I support not spending time and tax payer funds for such an over reach of the government toward the horse industry – as the soring of horses were only in a small group of farms/specific breed that has already been regulated and controlled for many years
This is a non issue for the industry as a whole

This HPA needs to stay in the gaited horse show world & away from Ranch shiws & Hunter/Jumpers!
