Standards & Guidelines

Equine Sports Council offers sanctioning to a network of horse shows that all follow the same standards and guidelines, customized for the non-olympic horse industry. There are no annual membership fees. Horse shows collect $15 per Performance Horse and $5 per Academy Rider – per back number issued, not per class. 25% of the fees that the show collects is given back to the show as a Marketing Grant. Traditional Sports Concepts (class and judging specifications) are followed and, when combined with ESC’s Standards and Guidelines, we ensure a safe and fair playing field for participants.

The Standards and Guidelines cover activity and conduct outside the show ring. The Welfare and Biosecurity protocols cover human and animal protection measures, including ESC’s equine drug testing program and guidance for the proper allowance of therapeutic medications.
