Open Ranch Riding
OR 5.0 Open Ranch Riding Horses work individually utilizing the arena to perform a series of maneuvers as prescribed by the judge. Suggested maneuvers include walk, jog/trot, and lope both directions and the extended jog/trot and extended lope in at least one direction. Stops and back are also encouraged. Additional maneuvers may include a side pass, turns of 360 degrees or more, change of lead, working over ground poles at any gait. Suggested Ranch Riding patterns are available on the American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association (ASHBA) website. Patterns should be posted at least one hour prior to the performance.
