In today’s Countdown to Louisville, the individuals appointed to serve on the 2024 World’s Championship Show Commission have been announced by the Kentucky State Fair Board. All Equine Sports Council (ESC) sanctioned shows are required to establish a three-person “Show Commission” comprised of experienced adults in the show horse industry who are well-versed in ESC Sports Concepts. The Show Commission holds overall responsibility for ensuring the successful implementation of all ESC Rules. In February 2024 the KY State Fair Board announced their decision to join Equine Sports Council’s Network of Sanctioned Horse Shows in their effort to obtain a new business partner for the World’s Championship Horse Show. The Leadership of ESC has taken a “heads down” approach in the efforts required to sanction this prestigious event on the green shavings. These new animal protections will include daily randomized drug testing performed by an equine veterinarian at the KY State Fair’s World’s Championship Horse Show. Friesian Show Horse Rules Developed for ESC & 2025 National Championship Advisory Committee Organizes
Equine Sports Council (ESC) announces the DRAFT release of it’s Sports Concepts developed for the Friesian Show Horse division. The Friesian (FR) Professional Advisory Committee (PAC) is under selection and review. The FR PAC will offer guidance to the ESC board and leadership team as the Friesian Show Horse is welcomed into the 2025 ESC Network. New ESC Medication Guidelines Outline Allowed Therapeutic Treatments
June 7, 2024 – Now available online are the ESC Medication Guidelines that outline allowed therapeutic treatments. “One positive change is allowing medications prescribed for Cushing’s and Navicular hoof disease at ESC events,” said Shane Darnell, ESC co-founder. “These medications, that are given daily at home, will be allowed to continue on the regular schedule without a withdrawal time.” A single ESC Medication Report will need to be filed at the start of the show with the prescribing vet’s contact information, diagnosis and prescription instructions. Newmarket Equestrian Joins ESC Network & Hunter Jumper Events Begin Saturday
Saturday May 11, 2024 at the Commonwealth Park in Culpeper, Virginia a series of two Hunter Jumper shows kicks off that includes classes for Hunters, Jumpers, Jumper mini prix, Hunter Derby and Field Hunter division for Fox Hunters. Class prizes include leather halters, lead shanks and Dover Saddlery Gift Cards all made possible through sponsors of the shows. In October a second show series takes place where high point awards will be given based on winnings from the May and October events. ESC Selects Industry Advisors for Collaborative Release of the 2024 Class Specifications
ESC has identified key industry advisors that will collaborate in the release of ESC’s 2024 Rules & Guidelines. This Advisory Team will be reviewing sports concepts for the individual breeds, and updating and adding Class Specifications for Saddlebreds, Hackneys and Roadsters. These additional class specifications will be made available in the coming weeks. ESC is also consulting with Veterinarians practicing in our show horse industry to advise on appropriate use of therapeutic drugs and medications.
