“It’s My Hope For Us All…”

Family, Family but Family… “This is family… You don’t quit because you have a passion! It’s my hope for us all that we never quit…. We are Family with a passion. God Bless you all.” Scott Bennett

It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the profound loss of our equine family member, Dr. Scott Bennett, and extend our deepest sympathy to his wife, Linda. For almost 40 years, show horse trainers from around the country depended on Dr. Bennett and his state of the art surgical and diagnostic practice, Equine Services, PSC in Simpsonville, KY. He also advised Equine Sports Council in the development of our Drugs and Medications Policy.

There is no way to measure the thousands of horses Scott has saved simply with his diagnostic skills. When we were chasing a problem we were CERTAIN of, with no relief; Scott walks in and says. “here’s what wrong with this horse, and this is how we’re going to treat it”.

Dr. Bennett received his doctorate of veterinarian medicine from Ohio State University, published numerous articles on diagnosing and management of horse lameness and oviduct disorders, and was the first in many procedures including:

  • 1st to develop a viable surgical tubal (oviduct) patency and treatment in the equine species.
  • 1st embryo transfer in the American Saddlehorse beginning in 1980.
  • Pioneered endoscopic hysteroscopy starting in 1978 and later laser hysteroscopic treatment of the uterus.
  • 1st interspecies embryo transfer between the zebra and domestic horse.
  • Pioneer site for use of IRAP (Interleukin Receptor Antagonist Protein) in the United States.
  • Beta Site for Stem cell processing
  • Developed 3-D bloodflow MRI imaging in the equine limb and laminatic horse.

In addition to Scott’s groundbreaking veterinary work, he demonstrated his dedication to the betterment of the American Saddlebred through the breeding program at Alliance Stud, which has produced champions at all levels. The show horse industry will continue to benefit from his work for generations to come.

“Scott and Linda are two of the best human beings God ever saw fit to put on this planet. I can never thank them enough for the countless hours of their lives that have been spent with me on behalf of all of the horses we have known together. I have known Scott for over thirty years. He has ALWAYS been there when I needed him both as a brilliant veterinarian as well as loyal friend. Simply the very best. Love You!”
